Site forward to new site if it is a mobile device

We have two separate sites one is our main site 225 pages or so.. we have a mobile site as well that is a far slimmed down version. Is there an easy way other than having a javascript or PHP code on index.php to once its a certain size screen it switches to the mobile site? I saw there is a theme switcher but we actually have two different sites since the mobile site is way smaller and compact. Ideas?
