Error cant log out after editing

Can someone help with this issue please. When I logout after editing I still have the edit tab at the top of the screen when I then click this again it tells me someone else is editing this page impossible as I am the only one who has access any help please i cannot log out!
is it possible you've logged in with two browsers? sometimes i jump between safari and firefox and get this kinda problem
I have a very similar problem: I CAN log in and out using IE8 (using WinXP), but don't like using it while actually editing (hangs up). However, now that I've logged into FIREFOX, I can't log out in Firefox. It doesn't matter if I log in or out in IE8 -- Firefox stays logged in -- a security issue for our work environment. Plz help! -- ECW
